IG Arena Marks First Anniversary, Welcoming One Million Visitors and Hosting 100+ Events

Rapid first-year success positions IG Arena as a key destination on the Japanese live entertainment circuit

IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan, is marking a standout first year, having hosted 116 events and welcomed one million visitors, firmly establishing itself as a must-play venue in the region.

The first anniversary of Nagoya’s 17,000-capacity venue will be marked by the return of the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, also known as the Nagoya Basho. Delivered through a partnership between AEG, Aichi Prefecture, alongside NTT Docomo and Maeda Corporation via Aichi International Arena Co., Ltd, the venue first opened with the same tournament on 13 July 2025.

In its opening year, IG Arena delivered a diverse calendar of live events, from major sporting showdowns to world-class concerts. Further to a successful season for the venue’s home team, the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, IG Arena also welcomed the Super Bantamweight Championship in September 2025 and has been announced as a host venue for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, taking place this September.

Music programming has also been strong, with the arena quickly becoming a key stop on international touring circuits. Performances from global stars including Hans Zimmer, Sting and Janet Jackson sit alongside strong demand for K-pop, now the venue’s highest-performing genre, with sell-out shows from Aespa, XG and TXT. Complementing this, a strong line-up of leading Japanese artists like Yorushika, AI, THE RAMPAGE and B’z highlights the arena’s role as both an international destination and a platform for domestic talent.

John Langford, President, APAC at AEG International, said: “In its first year, IG Arena has introduced a new standard for live entertainment in the region, combining scale with flexibility to attract a broader mix of international artists. Built with the future of live in mind, it is already playing a key role in establishing Nagoya as a major entertainment hub, and we’re excited about what comes next.”

Located in Meijō Park near the historic Nagoya Castle, IG Arena is recognised for its distinctive hybrid oval design and state-of-the-art facilities, positioning it among the country’s most modern and versatile venues. Offering an elevated live experience that’s underpinned by world-class facilities, exceptional acoustics, and unrivalled premium hospitality, IG Arena is setting a new regional benchmark for live entertainment. On an impressive growth trajectory, the venue is striving to achieve a 40% uplift in event count and 50% increase in annual visitors during its second year of operation.

IG Arena’s regional impact to date is also reflected across the local economy in Nagoya, with cashless spending in the surrounding areas, including Kin-Shachi Yokocho and Yanagibara-dori shopping street, increased by 124% year-on-year between 2024 and 2025 following the arena’s opening.

Daejong Kim, Chief Operating Officer at IG Arena, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the success that IG Arena has achieved during its first year. The calibre of artists and live events that we’ve welcomed reflects both the strength of the venue, our team, and the growing positioning of Nagoya as a cultural destination and must-play city in Japan. As we look ahead to IG Arena’s second year, we will remain focused on continuing to deliver an exceptional experience for fans and welcoming even more artists and live events to Nagoya.”

IG Arena forms part of AEG’s steadily expanding portfolio of sports and live entertainment venues, strengthening the company’s presence across the Asia-Pacific region, alongside Bangkok’s UOB Live and Mercedes-Benz Arena Shanghai, as well as major developments in Osaka and a second arena in Bangkok. On a global scale, AEG owns and operates a portfolio of more than 100 premier venues, including Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, The O2 in London, and Uber Arena in Berlin.
