GLOBAL SUPERSTAR AND CULTURAL ICON RAYE ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER HEADLINE SHOW AT THE O2
Hot off the heels of being nominated for a record breaking seven BRIT Awards, becoming the most nominated artist in a single year in BRIT Award history – Global superstar and cultural icon RAYE announces her first ever headline show at The O2 arena on Friday 15 March 2024.
Priority Tickets are available to O2 and Virgin Media customers at https://priority.o2.co.uk/ from Friday 26 January at 10am and go on general sale at 10am on Tuesday 30 January www.theo2.co.uk.
This momentous event will be a larger take on My 21st Century Symphony Live, the sensational show at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall with a majestic live orchestra and an incredible gospel choir, televised on BBC One and closed a groundbreaking 2023 for Raye.
RAYE says “This is my first headline performance at The O2 arena. We will have 90 guests on stage, including the Heritage Orchestra and Flames Collective, our guests from The Royal Albert Hall, to perform My 21st Century Symphony. We scarily will have one month to attempt to sell 18,000 tickets, but no matter how many tickets we sell or don’t sell, I’m going to give the best show I can possibly give. I am counting down the days for this moment”.
A No.2 album in the UK, ‘My 21st Century Blues’ was a decade in the making and RAYE’s debut album as an independent artist. On her own terms RAYE gave space for listeners who have faced and overcome adversity, with anthems for women in the industry that recounted her own painful experiences with sexual abuse, rape, body dysmorphia, addiction, misogyny, and even climate change. The album was nominated for ‘Best Independent Album’ at the AIM Independent Music Awards and was one of only 12 albums selected as a finalist for the 2023 ‘Mercury Music Prize’.
RAYE owned 2023 from the continued success of her inescapable global smash ‘Escapism.’ featuring 070 Shake, which hit No.1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, is 2 x platinum in the UK, and is certified RIAA Platinum in the US and nine other territories with 1.05 billion cumulative streams clocked to date and 105 million views on the video. The track is the second biggest selling single of the year in the UK so far, and has earned RAYE her highest-peaking song on the Billboard Hot 100 (#22). It won ‘Best Social Trended Song’ at The Global Awards, ‘Best Contemporary Song’ at the Ivor Novello Awards and ‘Best Independent Track’ at the AIM Independent Music Awards. The song also topped the viral music chart on TikTok boasting 110 billion views and was the No.1 Most Shazamed Pop Song in the U.S. for 8 consecutive weeks.
2023 became RAYE’s most extensive year of touring to date. After wrapping a sold-out arena UK tour with Lewis Capaldi and a string of sold-out solo headline shows including one at London’s Roundhouse, RAYE returned to North America as the special guest supporting Kali Uchis and joined SZA’s ‘S.O.S. Tour’ for 13 shows throughout Europe and the UK. Her extraordinary debut at Glastonbury won new fans across the globe, alongside Summer performances at Longitude (Dublin, Ireland), Mad Cool (Madrid, Spain), Life Is Beautiful (Las Vegas, Nevada), and All Things Go (Columbia, Maryland).
RAYE closed out 2023 with a sensational show at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall with a majestic live orchestra and an incredible gospel choir, the show earned huge critical acclaim. Fast cementing a legacy as an artist that can skip between genres at will – songs that flit between hip-hop, dance, and gospel and still keep their integrity – RAYE continues to own the pop game.
