FAME FOREST: A New Chapter for Music and Nature Lands in Berlin After Success in Hamburg

Berlin, October 30, 2024: AEG Europe, has announced the expansion of its FAME FOREST initiative to Berlin, marking a new chapter in its commitment to sustainability after its success in Hamburg. This innovative project will plant a tree for every artist performing at the Uber Arena and Uber Eats Music Hall.

On Wednesday morning, 60 invited guests from politics, business, sports, and culture gathered in Bötzow, near Berlin, to celebrate its launch. In attendance was German ice hockey champions Eisbären Berlin, Oberkrämer’s mayor Wolfgang Geppert, and Berlin influencer Aron Troschke.

The event marked the 5th anniversary of FAME FOREST, as the project expanded from Hamburg to a new site provided by GESOBAU AG in Bötzow. Oberkrämer’s Mayor Wolfgang Geppert joined Jan Kienappel, Managing Director of AEG Germany, and the Eisbären Berlin team to plant the first of 40 trees on the grounds. Several senior guests from AEG and GESOBAU AG were also present, celebrating the launch of the environmental initiative.

Originally rooted in Hamburg, FAME FOREST has already seen hundreds of trees planted for international stars like Michael Bublé, KISS, and Elton John, who have all performed at AEG’s Barclays Arena. Planting a tree in FAME FOREST not only contributes to environmental protection but also connects the world of sports and live entertainment with a broader awareness of nature’s importance.

“With every tree planted, we send a message of sustainability and community,” said Jan Kienappel of AEG Europe. “FAME FOREST is more than just a project; it symbolises the timeless connection between art, sports, and nature – all with a disco ball at the heart of environmental protection.”

Jörg Franzen, Chairman of the Board for GESOBAU AG, said: “We are pleased to be able to give FAME FOREST a suitable place to grow here in Bötzow. The sustainable idea behind the project – the creation of jobs for disadvantaged people on one hand and nature conservation through the additional planting of wildflower meadows, nesting aids and beehives on the other – convinced us and fits in with GESOBAU’s self-conception as a socially responsible company.”

“Climate protection is one of the greatest environmental and economic challenges of our time. That’s why Eisbären Berlin has been committed to sustainability for a long time, and we’re excited to support FAME FOREST in Bötzow. We’ll plant one tree for every point earned in the PENNY DEL at season’s end, contributing to this remarkable project and raising awareness for the important issues of climate and environmental protection,” added Eisbären Managing Director Thomas Bothstede.

“We create biotopes – in minds, in hearts, in nature. Here and now, we lay the foundation for the next generation,” said Jan Schierhorn, the initiator of FAME FOREST.

Further tree-planting events in FAME FOREST will take place in the coming months, leaving an ecological footprint and inspiring people to take action in environmental protection.
